All of that is available in my archive of past newsletters. You can donate via my compassion non ...Continue Reading

Hi all, On Wednesday, I decided to read Ronan Farrow's New Yorker profile of Elon Musk - mainly so I would not have to read Walter Isaacson's hagiography-in-process. It'll take you an hour to read, longer if it makes your blood boil. My tl;dr - The TLDR - on this article by Ronan Farrow, which is worth the time - 1. Musk comes from a culture/nature/nurture in South Africa that amplified a dominating attitude. He was an abused child, saw his mother beaten, tried to defend her. The victim-perpetrator is probably th ...Continue Reading

I've just heard about some research by Stanford GSB Professor Deborah Gruenfeld "Diverse Teams Produce Better Decisions." A conservative supermajority in SCOTUS is producing ...Continue Reading

Hi all, My op-med article just got published on Doximity - based on a talk at the APA - Megalomania in the American Psyche: A Dangerous Conscious and Unconscious Influence (May 30, 2023) Megalomaniacs don’t typically present for therapy, but the people they affect do. As psychiatrists, we must offer them insight and compassion. What agency, insight, compassion, and checks and balances can we, as psychiatrists, offer to a society with megalomaniac tendencies and possibilities?
