Sangha Francisco
A monthly discussion group focused on building community and compassion
We will first focus over the course of several months on the new, highly acclaimed 700+ page book “Far From the Tree” by Andrew Solomon. His topic is how parents learn to love their children who are very different from them. I am sure this will springboard into a discussion of how to love others more generally, since we are all different, and how to build community based on this ideal. Our practice of listening, reflecting and understanding will no doubt afford openings to new insights and experiences.
First meeting is Sunday 3/3/13 from 11am-1pm at the Red Vic Café in the Haight (1665 Haight Street). The group will continue first Sundays thereafter. No reading assignment in March, and about 200 pages a month from there on. Other books and projects are in the works, depending on group interest and direction.
