when did spandex tights
become a thing?
when did everyone start
carrying yoga mats?
when did everyone get
high boots and jeans?

i been wearing these pants
for twenty years.
why?

san francisco, am i oatmeal?
if i wore chambray
would i get a date?
do i have to be a dot commer
to belong?
do i have to be young?

i’d rather have a go at being fuji
and wait til someone notices,
looks up from their phone
and notices

i’ve been here all along
like everyone else
who notices
these things
like everyone else
who lives against
the stream
