36 Views of SF: 16. Minolta Mind, Kodak Kiss
June 25, 2018
The Revolution is Coming!
The Revolution is Coming!
Revolutionaries chant at Dolores Park.
Dressed in black, they collide
With the rainbow-hues of Pride.
One party’s looking for a group
While the other group’s just looking to party.
I talk to both, and listen too,
And have a little party in my cerebelly.
Only from the Mind of Minolta.
Sealed with a Kodak Kiss.
The Revolution plays Pin the Tail,
The Donkey is Capitalism.
I tell him I’m for the Revolution of Heart
He tells me not to worry, it’s in their Constitution.
“This goes into effect Day One,”
he says, showing off a book.
I’m sure it’s filled with Good Intents
But it’s all just a wee bit Too Intense.
Buzzwords and Slogans fill our heads
The Revolution is on a Marketing Mission.
But every ideology, in the end,
Requires Levitical Submission.
(Telling jokes will be a sin
Feeling desire will be a crime.
Love will be nothing but an app
And no one will have the time.)
Only from the Mind of Minolta
Sealed with a Kodak Kiss.
March to the beat that you only hear
The beat of your human heart.
Don’t put your trust in any fool
Who says he’s sure what’s true for all of you.
All I have is questions, anyway –
Who are we to self and other?
There are many ways to live our lives
But when will we see all men as brothers?
Some have egos to match their swagger
Some have personalities that get quite drawn
We make enemies in our heads
When frustrated we scream “you’re gone!”
Yes, folks, it’s just a little like Facebook.
Welcome to the Facetrix.
Only from the Mind of Minolta.
Sealed with a Kodak Kiss.
Meanwhile, people fought and died
To have this day on Dolores Park.
The Revolution is in our Pride
In our Love, and in our Hearts.
I find my picture-perfect moments
Dancing to Jason and the Mission Street Beats.
I sing my joy with MJ and Prince
With Toby I sing Marley’s Vision.
What will my art be, they ask,
in Post-Revolution – they’re actually debating.
The same as it’s always been, I think –
My art’s in the medium of relating.
We don’t seem too good at that, folks.
You heard it here first.
Only from the Mind of Minolta.
Sealed with a Kodak Kiss.
But I can’t get too down on any of us
We’re just feeling the Great Disconnection.
But many of us seem to think that Being Right
Is better than Belonging and Affection.
You can be right or related
You can be right or happy.
You heard it here first, folks.
You heard it here first.
Our team wants what your team’s got
And denied us all along
Your team has disempowered us
Your use of power was wrong!
You’re right, you’re right it’s super true,
Power has been brutal and savage
But if we are to be the truer true
We must find it in our human knowledge.
How to be with each other
How to hear
How to understand and heal.
Every little bit of this
Is in the nature of our Very Big Wheel.
Our nature is nurture
More than fight-or-flight
Nurture is our greatest delight.
We have to transform from the base
I’m talking Neuro-Spiritual Architecture.
Only from the Mind of Minolta.
Sealed with a Kodak Kiss.
We’re having fewer kids, this is true
We’ll have to nurture one another.
Make a friend, or even two
Nurture your moments forever.
We are who happens to us, in our lives,
And what we make of the happening.
Creating yourself in the midst of the world
Is the definition of revolution.
I learn from everyone I meet
Everyone has a story.
Gabby at Garden Creamery sparkles a smile beam
I’ll return for that, and some tasty ice cream.
The story of our lives
This world the birth of beings.
Let’s make this world we share
A womb of universal care.
I buy a lei, buy lunch too
and give away some dollars
I talk to so many people today
That’s my socio-capitalist economy.
Join the movement I want to shout:
Enjoy the people around you.
Deepen as you help, join hands with all
Make your life hippocampal.
Only from the Mind of Minolta.
Only from your Mind as an Altar.
Sealed with a Kodak Kiss.
Sealed with Anandic Bliss.
Long live San Francisco!
Pride forever!
