Note: The ‘red thread’ is an Asian folk legend that signifies fateful connection between people, sometimes lovers destined to meet, or those destined to help each other. Here, I expand it to those connected by memory, lifetimes, etc. We are all connected in ways we cannot see or fully understand.

call it the red thread –
call it quantum entanglement of conscience
every impression created in presence
remains alive
remains bitter-sweet sentience
sometimes cherished
sometimes wound essence.
if they were just memories
perhaps we could just let go
but they’re more than that
weight and lift
on our souls.
karma’s a bitch
or maybe a grudge;
in this strange transference court
who’s to judge?
what’s the sentence?
our entanglements are a rashomon mosaic –
i walk the streets with them –
i make them music.
