36 Views of San Francisco: 36+8. Her Name is Han
July 14, 2018
Note: Han is a Korean cultural term that signifies a “feeling of unresolved resentment against injustices suffered”. My understanding is that it is cohesive in Korean culture, and I have posited an Asian American, American and global han in the face of our collective suffering.
resistance persistent
existence grinds my brain
concrete searing pain
wound entanglements
directional wranglements
my path against the stream.
in moments secure, interdependent, nirvanical
then at odds, struggling,
thinking primitive, mechanical.
what quagmires push to overwhelm?
my mind’s still not big enough
to take a measured helm.
bearing this struggle with grace is my Han
i commit to helping, belonging, loving.
before i’m gone, gone, completely gone.
i am living my Han
my mind
her Name Is Han.
frustration.
oppression.
defeat.
involution.
despair.
meditation.
suffering.
resolve.
Han.
i struggle with her weight.
the weight of all beings.
the joy of all beings.
Han.
may all beings be free of suffering.
may all beings have joy.
i walk with my Han
i dance with my Han
i dance
and weep
with Han.
