36 Views of San Francisco: 36+5. belonging
July 11-12, 2018
(written while walking Riverside Drive in New York City)
belonging memories melt,
butter,
onto
present moment toast:
savor this meal.
loneliness sometimes comes,
fiery panics upsetting
jittery heart bread-of-life,
pressed tightly in soul-oven, toasting still.
pop this risen bread into the world,
let the butter in:
awareness of others, finding their way.
earth supporting all feet.
i make myself earth-butter-belonging
spread myself on the toasted world:
the earth, connected to all,
our quiet and only ground.
people walk together, talking.
sit face to face, talking.
even in silence, the closeness of others appeals
their touches and caresses sensational, sensual,
mirrored in my mind.
we belong to earth
our belonging swims in earth butter,
memories of our time together, here.
our dream of life
earth butter sculpture
