36 Views of San Francisco: 36+10. Vision Field
July 15, 2018
wanting to be seen
so hard to see
harder still to see ourselves.
we can’t escape the shaping gaze
we react to misshapen sight
distorted, burdened by toxic light
how we’re seen affects how we see
how we’re seen sends us on our mission
how do we change this strange, dysmorphic,
Disunified Field of Vision?
this Field that crushes, darkens cognition?
care, and try to understand
this world we share,
look through another’s eyes
as much you dare.
look at a Giacometti
ask what this being says and thinks
what does she think about you, herself
let her be your muse, your guide, your sphinx.
feel her gratitude in being seen.
she, like you, just wants to be gleaned.
sometimes she’s afraid of your sight
accepting her humanity dispels her fright.
(we are so afraid of being seen
we put on masks, avoid the scene)
now see yourself as work of art
appreciate yourself though you feel
less than sidekick,
less than bit part.
you stand seen
you exist, you exist
unique in time and space.
you exist, you exist
consciousness, kissed.
only you can play yourself
only you can know yourself
only you create yourself
(use a bricolage view of self)
insight comes from seeing inside
insight comes from seeing others
insight comes from a shaping gaze of love
the eternal law lifts us above.
let sight and love
send you on the Great Mission.
together, we’ll create
our Unified Field of Vision.
